  1. Sir Nicholas Carew KG (c. 1496 – 3 March 1539), of Beddington in Surrey, was an English courtier and diplomat during the reign of King Henry VIII. He was executed for his alleged part in the Exeter Conspiracy .

  3. Sir Nicholas Carew was a loyal servant and friend of King Henry VIII. He served his king both at court and as an ambassador overseas, as well as participating in court festivities. He shared a love of jousting and hunting with the king and manoeuvred the ever-changing social order of the king’s court.

  4. Thomas Carew died aged 68 on 28 March 1586 of "Gaol Fever", following his attendance as a magistrate at the notorious Black Assize of Exeter. His monumental brass survives in Haccombe Church, on the floor of the chancel, near those of his wife and his great-grandfather Nicholas Carew (died 1469).

    4 giorni fa · Nicholas Carew. In the chapel of St Nicholas in Westminster Abbey is an altar tomb of Purbeck marble to Nicholas, Baron Carew. It is placed against the wall under the monument to Lady Fane. There is no longer any inscription and the three shields have gone.
