Ahmed Ali Mohammed Qurei (or Qureia; Arabic: أحمد علي محمد قريع, Aḥmad ʿAlī Muḥammad Qurayʿ; 26 March 1937 – 22 February 2023), also known by his Arabic name kunya Abu Alaa (أبو علاء Abū ʿAláʾ), was a Palestinian politician who served as the second Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority.

23 feb 2023 · Former Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qurei, also known as Abu Al Alaa, died on Wednesday. He was 85. Sources close to Mr Qurei's family said he recently suffered from infections that required hospital treatment. He received intravenous antibiotics, but his condition deteriorated overnight.

A key player in the 1993 Oslo peace accords, Qureia witnessed the rise of the dream of Palestinian statehood that surged during the negotiations.
Ahmed Qurei, born in Abu Dis in 1938, was a member of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) and a member of the PLO’s Executive Committee (EC) until May 2018. In 2003, Qurei served as acting prime minister following Mahmoud Abbas ’s resignation from that position.
