Victor Frederick William Cavendish-Bentinck, 9th Duke of Portland, CMG (18 June 1897 – 30 July 1990), known as Victor Cavendish-Bentinck until 1977 and Lord Victor Cavendish-Bentinck from 1977 to 1980, and informally as Bill Bentinck, was a British diplomat, businessman, and peer.
10 feb 2009 · Alexander Constantine Georgiades is the son of Constantine Georgiades. 1 He married Mary Jane Cavendish-Bentinck, daughter of Victor Frederick William Cavendish-Bentinck, 9th Duke of Portland and Clothilde Bruce Quigley, on 20 April 1963. 1 He and Mary Jane Cavendish-Bentinck were divorced in 1978. 1
Manuscripts and Special Collections. Victor succeeded to the title in 1980, on the death of his brother, the 8th Duke. He was educated at Wellington College but did not pursue a university education, instead entering the diplomatic service in 1919. His diplomatic career was distinguished.

From that point onwards, the Dukedom descended in an unbroken line as far as William Cavendish-Bentinck, 9th Duke of Portland. With his death in 1990 the honour became extinct. The title Earl of Portland did not die out with the dukedom, however.
19 set 2022 · William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, 3 rd Duke of Portland carried the family line forward, and became its most famous politician. He stayed in the family tradition a supporter of the Whigs in government, and was named Lord Lieutenant (or viceroy) of Ireland, briefly, during the ministry of Lord Rockingham in 1782.
