Stanley Armour Dunham (March 23, 1918 – February 8, 1992) was the maternal grandfather of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States. He and his wife Madelyn Payne Dunham raised Obama from the age of 10 in Honolulu , Hawaii.

Brief Life History of Stanley Armour. Stanley Armour Dunham was the son of Ralph Waldo Emerson Dunham b. 1894 in Argonia, KS, and Ruth Lucille Armour b. 1900 in IL. He had one brother Ralph Emerson Dunham b. 1916 in Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS. On November 25, 1926, at age 8, Dunham discovered his mother's body after she had committed suicide.
