Valdemar Magnusson ( c. after 1282 – 1318) was a Swedish prince, heir to the throne of Sweden, and Duke of Finland . Background. Valdemar was the third son of Magnus III and Helvig of Holstein. He became Duke of Finland in 1302 at the coronation of his older brother, Birger. [1] .
Biografia. Figlio dello jarl Birger Magnusson e della principessa svedese Ingeborg Erikdotter, venne eletto sovrano all'età di sette anni in seguito alla morte dello zio, Erik XI di Svezia. Può essere considerato il primo re di una Svezia unificata, dopo le tante guerre tra le varie casate svedesi pretendenti al trono.
