Biografia. Enrico era il figlio del principe Enrico VII di Reuss-Köstritz e di sua moglie Maria Anna di Sassonia-Weimar-Eisenach . Entrò nell'esercito e poi prese in commissione della 2ª Guardia dei Dragoni, e poi servì nel servizio diplomatico.

Prince Heinrich VII Reuss of Köstritz was born at Klipphausen on 14 July 1825. He was the fifth child and third son of Prince Heinrich LXIII, Prince Reuss of Köstritz and his first wife, Countess Eleonore of Stolberg-Wernigerode (1801-1827).
Prince Heinrich XXXIII Reuss was the younger son of the Prince Heinrich VII Reuss of Köstritz and Princess Marie Alexandrine of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Through his mother, Prince Heinrich XXXIII was heir to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands until the birth of the Crown Princess Juliana, daughter of Queen Wilhelmina.
