Menpehtyre Ramesses I (or Ramses) was the founding pharaoh of ancient Egypt's 19th Dynasty. The dates for his short reign are not completely known but the timeline of late 1292–1290 BC is frequently cited as well as 1295–1294 BC.
3 apr 2024 · Ramses I was the founder of the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt. He became the coregent of Horemheb, the last king of the 18th dynasty, who died without an heir. Already of advanced age upon ascending the throne, Ramses reigned about one year and four months with his son Seti I as coregent.

Ramses I was the first pharaoh of the 19th dynasty. Later efforts of his successors to rewrite history left the dates of his reign as only estimates. Ramses reigned for less than two years. He ordered the removal of several previous kings from the King List, including the name of Queen Hatshepsut.

Ramesses I Menpehtyre (“Born of Ra, Established by the strength of Ra”) was the first pharaoh of the nineteenth dynasty ( New Kingdom) of Ancient Egypt. He is recorded by Manetho and modern chronologies as the founder of the nineteenth dynasty although the Ancient Egyptians seem to have accorded this honour to Horemheb.
