Friedrich August von Hayek ( Vienna, 8 maggio 1899 – Friburgo in Brisgovia, 23 marzo 1992) è stato un economista e sociologo austriaco naturalizzato britannico . Pensatore liberale e liberista, è stato uno dei massimi esponenti della scuola austriaca e critico dell'intervento statale in economia.
Friedrich August von Hayek CH FBA (/ ˈ h aɪ ə k / HY-ək, German: [ˈfʁiːdʁɪç ˈʔaʊɡʊst fɔn ˈhaɪɛk] ⓘ; 8 May 1899 – 23 March 1992), often referred to by his initials F. A. Hayek, was an Austrian-British academic, who contributed to economics, political philosophy, psychology, and intellectual history.
Vita e pensiero. Direttore dell'Istituto austriaco di ricerche economiche (1927-31), poi emigrato, ha insegnato alla London school of economics (1931-50), su invito di L. Robbins, e nelle univ. di Chicago (1950-52), di Salisburgo e, dal 1977, di Friburgo.
Hayek was the best-known advocate of what is now called Austrian economics. He was, in fact, the only major recent member of the Austrian school who was actually born and raised in Austria. After World War I, Hayek earned his doctorates in law and political science at the University of Vienna.

15 set 2012 · Hayek worked in the areas of philosophy of science, political philosophy, the free will problem, and epistemology. For all that, Hayek was more hedgehog than fox. His life’s work, for which he won a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1974, illuminated the nature and significance of spontaneous order.
