Sir Fred Hoyle FRS (24 June 1915 – 20 August 2001) was an English astronomer who formulated the theory of stellar nucleosynthesis and was one of the authors of the influential B 2 FH paper.
Sir Fred Hoyle is renowned as one of the twentieth century's great scientific thinkers, who was not afraid to question orthodox beliefs. Hoyle was born in Gilstead, Bingley West Yorkshire in 1915 into a close family community.
