9 December 1996. ( 1996-12-09) The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders is a 1996 British drama television film directed by David Attwood, with a screenplay by Andrew Davies and starring Alex Kingston. [1] It is an adaptation of the novel Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe .
Moll travels to Chatham and becomes Mrs Flanders, a rich widow. She marries a Virginian sea captain, sails to the colonies and meets her new mother-in-law. They have two children, but then Moll discovers that his mother is her mother too. She returns to England, travels to Lancashire and is introduced into society as Lady Flanders.
Based on the novel by Daniel Defoe and written by Emmy®-winner Andrew Davies, this "captivating, grown-up romp" (The New York Times) tells the story of the notorious Moll Flanders (Alex Kingston, ER, A Discovery of Witches), who is forced to survive on seduction, cunning, and wit in the ruthless world of 18th-century England.

Moll Flanders is a 1975 British historical television series based on the novel of the same title by Daniel Defoe. Starring Julia Foster in the title role, it originally aired on BBC 2 in two episodes.
