Georges Demenÿ (Douai, 12 giugno 1850 – Parigi, 26 ottobre 1917) è stato un fotografo, inventore e ginnasta francese di origini ungheresi. È considerato il fondatore dell'educazione fisica scientifica.

Georges Demeny. French inventor, chronophotgrapher, filmmaker and gymnast. Georges Demen was born at Douai in 1850. In 1874, after studying at Douai and Lille, he reached Paris and enrolled in the physiology course of E-J. Marey, quickly becoming one of the scientist's closest associates.
Demenÿ worked as Marey's assistant from 1881 to 1893 and then applied Marey's method to the physical training program of the French army. This picture, whose successive exposures were timed to match the strides of the runner, may have been made by him.

Georges Demenÿ was Etienne-Jules Marey's assistant at his laboratory, the Station Physiologique, for many years, but they ultimately disagreed on on how to exploit chronophotography: Demenÿ was interested in commercializing it, while Marey was focused on using it as a scientific tool.
