Biografia. Anton Graff fu un ritrattista svizzero, senza dubbio il maggiore del '700. Figlio di Ulrich Graff, si ribellò al padre che voleva che diventasse notaio. Fu chiamato il Tintoretto svizzero. Ritrasse Gluck, Federico il Grande, von Kleist, Herder e Weisse. Uno dei suoi più famosi ritratti è però quello di Konrad Ekhof . Galleria d'immagini.
Anton Graff (18 November 1736 – 22 June 1813) was an eminent Swiss portrait artist. Among his famous subjects were Friedrich Schiller , Christoph Willibald Gluck , Heinrich von Kleist , Frederick the Great , Friederike Sophie Seyler , Johann Gottfried Herder , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , Moses Mendelssohn and Christian Felix Weiße .
Anton Graff (* 18. November 1736 in Winterthur ( Schweiz ); † 22. Juni 1813 in Dresden ( Königreich Sachsen )) war ein Schweizer Maler des Klassizismus. Mit seiner Bildauffassung war Graff einer der bedeutendsten Porträtmaler seiner Epoche.

Tra i più rappresentativi ritrattisti del 18º sec.; studiò ad Augusta e nel 1766 fu chiamato all'Accademia di Dresda, dalla quale non si allontanò che per brevi viaggi a Lipsia e a Berlino. Ritrasse con piacevole realismo note personalità della politica e della cultura.
Pittore. Nacque a Winterthur (Svizzera), il 18 novembre 1736, morì a Dresda il 22 giugno 1813. Studiò con J. U. Schellenberg, poi con l'incisore J. J. Haid e con L. Schneider. Durevole fu anche l'influenza che ebbero su di lui i ritratti di H. Rigaud e di J. Kupezky. Nel 1759 si fissò in Augusta, dove salì presto in gran fama per i suoi ritratti.
