Horace Oscar Axel Engdahl ( Karlskrona, 30 dicembre 1948) è un critico letterario svedese eletto nel 1999 membro permanente dell' Accademia Svedese, l'organizzazione culturale che dal 1901 assegna il Premio Nobel per la Letteratura; nel luglio 2009, dietro sua esplicita richiesta, è stato sostituito da Peter Englund .
Horace Oscar Axel Engdahl (born 30 December 1948) is a Swedish literary historian and critic, and has been a member of the Swedish Academy since 1997. He was the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy from 1999 to June 2009, when he was succeeded by Swedish author and historian Peter Englund.

Author and literary historian. Inducted: 1997. Horace Engdahl was born in Karlskrona 1948. During the 1970s he became one of the founding members of the cultural magazine Kris whose influence on the intellectual and literary climate in Sweden hardly can be overestimated.
