Albert Frederick (German: Albrecht Friedrich; Polish: Albrecht Fryderyk; 7 May 1553 – 27 August 1618) was the Duke of Prussia, from 1568 until his death. He was a son of Albert of Prussia and Anna Marie of Brunswick-Lüneburg. He was the second and last Prussian duke of the Ansbach branch of the Hohenzollern family.

When Albert died in 1568, his teenage son (exact age is unknown) Albert Frederick inherited the duchy. Sigismund II was also Albert Frederick's cousin. The Elector of Brandenburg Joachim II, converted to Lutheranism in 1539. Joachim wanted to merge his lands with the Prussian dukedom, so his heirs would inherit both.

16 mar 2024 · Albert was the last grand master of the Teutonic Knights from 1510 to 1525, and the first duke of Prussia (from 1525). He was a Protestant German ruler known chiefly for ending the Teutonic Knights’ government of East Prussia and founding a hereditary dukedom in its place.

Prussian. Biography: Albert Frederick was the Duke of Prussia, coming to power in 1569 after paying feudal homage to his cousin, Zygmunt August, who was then the King of Poland. While he technically reigned until 1603, though was noted to have shown signs of mental disorder since 1572.
