Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld (later Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands; 29 June 1911 – 1 December 2004) was Prince of the Netherlands from 6 September 1948 to 30 April 1980 as the husband of Queen Juliana.
De claim van Bernhard was gebaseerd op de apanage die vorst Leopold als oudste zoon en erfgenaam van het familievermogen verschuldigd zou zijn aan de vader van Bernhard. Het geld werd hem ten onrechte toegekend en de zaak werd geheim gehouden.

Lippe-Biesterfeld fu un ramo cadetto della casata di Lippe tra il 1762 ed il 1905. Nel 1916, un nuovo, principesco, ramo cadetto fu creato per la moglie ed i figli del principe Bernardo di Lippe. Divenne anche un titolo della casata reale olandese creato nel 1937.
