Home is the eighth studio album by Dutch band The Gathering. The album was released on 15 April 2006 by Sanctuary Records through its heavy metal label Noise. The album had a separate release in North America which took place on 18 April 2006 by Brooklyn-based label The End Records.

16 mag 2006 · Con “Home”, Anneke Van Giersbergen e i suoi compagni optano per un songwriting lievemente più compatto e lineare, svincolandosi in parte dalle tonalità trip-rock del precedente e acclamatissimo “Souvenirs” e andando ad abbracciare un universo un po’ più marcatamente (post) rock e pop.
23 giu 2024 · Che da tempo i The Gathering abbiano abbandonato ogni velleità di “distorsione” appartenente all’universo gothic metal (per non parlare degli ancor più lugubri esordi) di cui sono stati portabandiera è ormai cosa risaputa e protrattasi ormai da ‘How To Measure A Planet?’.
Ormai i The Gathering fanno storia a se, storia di un mosaico di suoni inimitabile ed altamente distintivo. Mi preme dire che, anche se agli esordi e in seguito con dischi quali "Mandilyon" o "Nightime Birds" i nostri potevano a tutti gli effetti essere considerati un gruppo appartenente alla grande famiglia metal, oggi non è più cosi.

La conclusione di una saga iniziata nel 1995, quando i The Gathering diedero alle stampe Mandylion, con alla voce una certa Anneke van Giersbergen, che tanto darà alla scena rock/metal olandese (e non solo) negli anni successivi.
