Synopsis. Having worked hard to overcome addiction Mairi is now ready to be a mother to her estranged daughter Theresa, but can a mother and daughter’s bond really survive fourteen years apart or are they now simply strangers.
Titled Mairi: The Romance of a Highland Maiden, the film is the dramatised account of a young girl in love with a Revenue Officer who is caught up in a fight to catch smugglers. At one point there is a scene where actors Tom Snowie and Donald Dallas are fighting on a cliff top, before Snowie is exchanged for a dummy and thrown over the edge.
Mairi’s ‘consummate and visionary musicianship’ takes us from Burns to Bach and beyond. Her music, stagecraft and storytelling bring the audience profound feelings of Scotland and its vivid heartbeat.
