Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett, Baron Blackett, OM, CH, FRS (18 November 1897 – 13 July 1974), was a British experimental physicist known for his work on cloud chambers, cosmic rays, and paleomagnetism, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1948.

Blackett published his discovery of the atomic transmutation of nitrogen into oxygen in 1925. Blackett continued with the Wilson cloud chamber and began, in collaboration with the Italian physicist Giuseppe Occhialini (1907–1993), to use it to detect cosmic rays.
