Erica Durance (/ d ə ˈ r æ n s /; born June 21, 1978) is a Canadian actress known for her roles as Lois Lane in the superhero television series Smallville (2004–2011) and as Dr. Alex Reid in the medical drama series Saving Hope (2012–2017).
Despite playing her on-screen mother, Erica Durance is only 10 years older than Melissa Benoist, the actress who portrays Kara Danvers/Supergirl. Erica's predecessor, Laura Benanti , is only a year younger than her.
