Students receiving BS or BA degrees in biology should: 1. Have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for success in graduate programs in biological sciences or in professional (medical, dental, veterinary, nursing) school 2. Understand scientific techniques used to define biological principles, distinguish among these techniques to select one...

Each Biology and Molecular and Cellular Biology major is assigned an advisor when they declare the major. These faculty members are available to answer questions related to academic or even personal issues. The advising process is an integral part of the educational experience at Hopkins and it is important that students take advantage of the oppor...

Johns Hopkins offers an undergraduate pre-med program, but it is not a major. It is an advising track program through the Office of Pre-Professional Advising. Any Johns Hopkins undergraduate student pursuing any major may also pursue the pre-med advising track. The pre-professional advisers work with the students, providing them with academic advis...

The mission of the JHU Molecular and Cellular Biology Master’s Programis to provide Johns Hopkins Biology or Molecular and Cellular Biology majors with advanced training to expand their preparation for professional school and/or a career in science or medicine.

  2. As a student in the biology department, you’ll have access to research laboratories investigating a wide range of biological problems, and you’ll develop a detailed, nuanced view of biology and integrate knowledge at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels.

  3. Department of Biology > Graduate. A doctoral degree is offered by the Program in Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology, and Biophysics (CMDB). CMDB graduate students participate in a core curriculum including molecular biology, cellular biology, developmental biology, and biophysics.

  4. Biology, Bachelor of Arts. (Also see Requirements for a Bachelor's Degree.) The B.A. degree in biology is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in modern biology, with special emphasis on the molecular aspects of the discipline.

  5. Modern, Multidisciplinary Research. The Program in Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology, and Biophysics (CMDB) includes faculty from Johns Hopkins Universitys departments of biology, biophysics, and chemistry.

  6. The topics will build upon the basic concepts covered in genetics, cell biology, and molecular biology, and introduce topics related to biochemistry and developmental biology. The class will discuss a wide range of diseases including vision disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.
