History Founding. Sheridan College was established in 1967. The School of Graphic Design was located in Brampton, Ontario until 1970, when it moved to the new campus in Oakville, Ontario. The Brampton campus was a converted public high school that had previously been in condemned status until re-fitted for use by Sheridan College.

With its presence firmly established in Oakville, Sheridan College stood ready to expand and evolve in the early 1970s. President Porter and the Board of Governors believed that for the college system to survive the schools had to continuously prove their worth and become “intellectual service centres” for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Founded in 1967, Sheridan has grown from a local college of 400 students to one of Ontario's leading postsecondary institutions, educating approximately 40,000 students every year on three campuses in three Ontario cities — Oakville, Brampton and Mississauga.
13 feb 2012 · Established by the Ontario Government in 1967, Sheridan College is one of 25 Ontario colleges funded through the Ministry of Education and Training. In 28 years of operation to 1996, Sheridan has produced 45 000 alumni and a graduate placement rate of 90%.
