23 feb 2022 · The extremely useful part of getting Cartafreccia membership as a senior (over 60) is that the senior discounts can be applied to purchases up to shortly before departure and can be changed once for free. So you don't have to buy non-refundable super economy tickets way in advance if you aren't sure of your itinerary.

26 mag 2024 · 3261 posts. You do not need the Carta Frecce to buy tickets. I do not have one ( but we are not seniors). If you really want one you can use the address of your first hotel in Italy. It is best to create an account and buy tix logged in to that, but you don’t need an address for that. Posted by jathaca OP. Canada.
28 set 2014 · Hi -- I was able to sign up for the Cartafreccia program using the address of one of the apartments I'm renting for a trip to Italy next month.
22 mag 2011 · My Italian is not all that sharp, but It looks like you just need a Carta Freccia. It is a loyalty program. You can request a card on the Italian website. See the Cartafreccia button on the menu bar? Gonthere and then press Dettagli (details). At the bottom of the page, press Aderisci to get the registration for.

The Trenitalia customer service phone number is listed on the website, you will be connected to an agent who speaks English. Note the time difference for business hours.
18 mag 2016 · Regarding the Cartafreccia card, it's not really worth the effort to get one, as I believe a Codice Fiscale and a local address is required. Equal savings can be achieved by simply booking as early as possible and getting the Super Economy or Economy tickets.
19 giu 2015 · The seats in the Economy bucket are sold at about a 40% discount and are also nonrefundable, but exchangeable with some restrictions. The rest of the seats are sold as Base at full price, but refundable up to train departure. When all the Super Economy seats for that train are sold, that's it and only Economy and Base seats are available.

Looking at Rome to Bari, I see “Speciale Frecce” tickets which are much cheaper than ever Super Economy (€29 versus €53). Insee they allow no changes, no refunds, which is fine.
