Howard Kelly " Jack " Fincher (December 6, 1930 – April 10, 2003) was an American screenwriter and journalist who had written for various magazines and periodicals, notably as San Francisco bureau chief of Life magazine. He is the father of film director David Fincher .

Mank is a 2020 American biographical drama film about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and his development of the screenplay for the 1941 film Citizen Kane. It was directed by David Fincher based on a screenplay written by his late father Jack Fincher and was produced by Ceán Chaffin, Douglas Urbanski, and Eric Roth.

Jack Fincher. Writer: Mank. Jack was born in Bonham, TX and was the grandson of Joanna America (Evans) Fincher, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Sparger) Evans. He grew up in Tulsa OK where he attended public schools. Jack enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area of CA upon his discharge.
