Michel Lévy frères was a Paris publishing house founded in 1836 by Michel Lévy with his brothers Nathan and Kalmus (Calmann). Michel served as publisher until his death in 1875, upon which Kalmus succeeded him and renamed the company as Calmann-Lévy.

Calmann-Lévy is a French publishing house founded in 1836 by Michel Lévy as Michel Lévy frères. His brother Kalmus Calmann Lévy joined in 1844, and the firm was renamed Calmann Lévy in 1875 after Michel's death.
Michel Lévy frères est une maison d'édition fondée en 1836 au 2 bis de la rue Vivienne, dans le 2 e arrondissement de Paris, par Michel Lévy et ses frères Nathan et Kalmus (plus tard francisé en Calmann) [1].
Biografia. Figlio di un ufficiale napoleonico, sposò nel 1847 Agnès-Octavie Blanqui, figlia del noto rivoluzionario, la quale morì nel 1859 e Feydeau si risposò con una donna «galante», Léocadie Bogaslawa Zelewska, nipote del visconte di Calonne.
È una delle più antiche case editrici francesi, fondata nel 1836 da Simon Lévy con i figli Michel (1821-1875), Nathan e Kalmus (1819-1891), giunti a Parigi da Phalsbourg.
