Ovviamente non potevamo non iniziare il nostro tour di Carmarthen dal suo castello. Recentemente restaurato fu costruito nel 1094 insieme alle mura della città. Dalle Torri del castello è possibile godere di una bellissima vista sulla campagna limitrofe nonché sul fiume Towny.
La cattedrale è situata nella città di St David’s, non lontana da Carmarthen. Si tratta di una delle cattedrali più antiche del paese e ospita le reliquie del Santo fondatore.
Un altro imperdibile castello normanno che è stato sede del film “Monty Python e il Sacro Graal”, commedia del 1975. Il castello è ben preservato, ed interessante da ammirare insieme alle campagne circostanti, ma attenzione! Si dice che queste siano infestate dal fantasma della moglie del principe di Galles Gruffydd ap Rhys.
Situato a Swansea è un’interessantissima struttura in vetro ed acciaio che contiene un museo, situato in un vecchio magazzino, dedicato alla tecnica. Interattivo, originale e creativo, ti lascerà a bocca aperta.
E’ una caratteristica località balneare che si affaccia sulla baia di Carmarthen. La sua caratteristica è quella di essere la più grande città della Gran Bretagna situata all’interno di un parco nazionale, il Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
E per gli amanti dei castelli continua la scoperta. Situato nella città di Laugharne, nel sud del Carmarthenshire, fu costruito nel 1116 e ricostruito in seguito nel 1215.
E’ una torre neo-gotica che fu eretta in onore di Lord Nelson. La sua visita può essere combinata con quella al National Botanic Garden of Wales, infatti dalla collina è possibile ammirare una vista su quest’ultimo e sulla Towy Valley.
Non potevano mancare attrazioni legate a Mago Merlino, e una di queste è un meraviglioso shopping Center dove passeggiare e rilassarsi tra i negozi e nel quale è presente anche una simpatica statua in legno dedicata al mago.
Sali a bordo di antichi treni a vapore e goditi il panorama! Vivrai un’esperienza unica e indimenticabile grazie a questa antica linea ferroviaria.
Questo museo si trova all’interno di una costruzione nata come collegio di sacerdoti, fondato nel 1280. All’interno è possibile rivivere la storia attraverso dipinti, ritratti, abiti d’epoca etc. Inoltre è possibile rilassarsi con una bellissima passeggiata nei giardini circostanti.
