5 giorni fa · University College, Bristol existed from 1876 to 1909 and was the precursor to the University of Bristol. Its history can be traced back to the efforts of John Percival, headmaster of Clifton College, to press for the establishment of such an institution.
L'Università di Bristol (in inglese University of Bristol), nel sistema accademico del Regno Unito, è una delle cosiddette "red brick" universities. Ha ricevuto il suo Royal Charter nel 1909, anche se l'istituzione che ne fu antesignana, l'University College, era attivo già dal 1876.
19 gen 2023 · Storia dell’Università di Bristol. Essendo una delle università più antiche d’Inghilterra, l’Università di Bristol ha una ricca storia. Le sue origini risalgono al 1876, quando fu fondato il Bristol University College. Nel 1833 fu aperta la Bristol Medical School e nel 1894 iniziò il Merchant Venturers ‘Technical College.
Storia. La città di Brycgstow, nome che nella lingua inglese antica significherebbe Piazza sul Ponte, esisteva fin dagli inizi dell' XI secolo e, sotto il governo normanno, vi fu costruito uno dei più potenti castelli del sud dell' Inghilterra .
Il suo sistema di istruzione ha ricevuto un notevole impulso nel 1909 con la formazione della Università di Bristol. A quest'ultima è stato affiancato un politecnico aperto nel 1969 per dare alla città un secondo istituto di istruzione superiore, che sarebbe poi diventato la Università del West of England nel 1992.
