There may appear to be differences between the expensive designer fashions shown on the runways of Paris or New York and the mass-produced sportswear and street styles sold in malls and markets around the world.
Fashion is both a space where one can project one’s individuality and personal style but it is also a public, community space, where fashion choices can be shared, and can become a social uniform, constructed through sartorial judgement and fashion behaviour.
