The Pantheon (UK: / ˈ p æ n θ i ə n /, US: /-ɒ n /; Latin: Pantheum, from Greek Πάνθειον Pantheion, "[temple] of all the gods") is a former Roman temple and, since AD 609, a Catholic church (Basilica Santa Maria ad Martyres or Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs) in Rome, Italy.

The Pantheon [1] (meaning "Temple of all the gods") is a building in Rome. It was originally built as a temple to the gods of Ancient Rome, and rebuilt about 126 AD during Hadrian 's reign. Today, it is not known what gods were included. The Pantheon is the best preserved of all Roman buildings. Since it was built, it has always been used.
Pantheon, building in Rome that was begun in 27 BC by the statesman Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, probably as a building of the ordinary Classical temple style. It was completely rebuilt by the emperor Hadrian sometime between AD 118 and 128, and some alterations were made in the early 3rd century.
The Pantheon is one of the most impressive historical and architectural sites in the centre of Rome, Italy. Dated around the early second century AD, it is one of the best preserved building of antiquity in the world, and testifies the superiority of Roman building techniques.
