Apa (born Lhakpa Tenzing Sherpa; 20 January 1960), [1] nicknamed "Super Sherpa", [2] is a Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer who, until 2017, jointly with Phurba Tashi held the record for reaching the summit of Mount Everest more times than any other climber.

Apa Sherpa, Nepali mountaineer and guide who set a record for most ascents of Mount Everest (21) that was later equaled by other Sherpas before being surpassed in 2018. He was also active in highlighting the ecological and climate-change issues affecting the mountain.
Climbing Career. Apa first reached the summit of Mount Everest on his fourth attempt, on May 10, 1990, with a New Zealand team led by climber Rob Hall along with Peter Hillary, son of Sir Edmund Hillary. He then began his career as Sirdar, or chief Sherpa, for many high-altitude expeditions.
4 giu 2009 · Apa Sherpa era l'uomo di punta della Eco Everest Expedition, promossa e appoggiata dall'Uiaa per ripulire l'Everest dalla spazzatura abbandonata dalle spedizioni. Sono state riportate a valle 6 tonnellate di sporcizia e bombole vuote lasciate ai campi alti.
