Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thai: อภิชาติพงศ์ วีระเศรษฐกุล; RTGS: Aphichatphong Wirasetthakun; IPA: [ʔà.pʰí.tɕʰâːt.pʰōŋ wīː.rá.sèːt.tʰà.kūn], born 16 July 1970) is a Thai independent film director, screenwriter, film producer and Professor at Tama Art University in Tokyo.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul ist ein thailändischer Filmregisseur, Drehbuchautor und Filmproduzent. Für seinen Spielfilm Uncle Boonmee erinnert sich an seine früheren Leben erhielt er 2010 als erster thailändischer Filmemacher die Goldene Palme der Internationalen Filmfestspiele von Cannes.

Director: Memoria. Apichatpong Weerasethakul (b. 1970, Bangkok) grew up in Khon Kaen, a city in the north east of Thailand. He has a degree in Architecture from Khon Kaen University and a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
