Edwin Muir CBE (15 May 1887 – 3 January 1959) was a Scottish poet, novelist and translator. Born on a farm in Deerness, a parish of Orkney, Scotland, he is remembered for his deeply felt and vivid poetry written in plain language and with few stylistic preoccupations.

MUIR, Edwin. Poeta, saggista e romanziere scozzese, nato il 15 maggio 1887 a Deerness Orkney, morto il 3 gennaio 1959 a Cambridge. Il padre era agricoltore ed egli fu l'ultimo di sei figli. Ancora ragazzo si trasferì a Glasgow insieme con la famiglia e dopo poco restò orfano.
