Elly and Henry - About the lives of Elly & Henry P. Glass. Henry was the architect of their 1948 passive solar house and a pioneer industrial designer. Elly was a guild certified master dressmaker in Vienna before they emigrated to the USA in 1939.
Through it all Elly was the woman who made everything possible. Vienna, 1939 - On the eve of World War II Elly Glass rescues her Jewish husband Henry from Buchenwald concentration camp where he had been imprisoned for not cooperating with the Nazis. The couple fled Austria and immigrated to the United States with no money and no English.
