Rafael Coronel (24 October 1932 – 7 May 2019) was a Mexican painter. He was the son-in-law of Diego Rivera . His representational paintings have a melancholic sobriety, and include faces from the past great masters, often floating in a diffuse haze.

Rafael Coronel Arroyo, nacido el 24 de octubre de 1931 en Zacatecas, México, fue un reconocido artista mexicano. Desde temprana edad, demostró un gran interés y talento por las artes visuales, lo que lo llevó a dedicarse a la pintura y la escultura.
Biografía. Zacatecas, 1931-2019. Artista y pintor mexicano. Hizo estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura, en la Ciudad de México, y luego pasó a cursar estudios en la academia High American School. A partir de 1956 ha presentado exposiciones de su obra en México, Estados Unidos, Japón, Puerto Rico y Brasil.
