Seeds of Change is Kerry Livgren 's first solo album. Released in 1980 while he still was a member of Kansas, it features guest appearances by three fellow Kansas members: Steve Walsh, Phil Ehart and Robby Steinhardt. Singer Ronnie James Dio and members of LeRoux, Jethro Tull, Ambrosia, and Atlanta Rhythm Section are also featured.

Kerry tells us in the booklet that he had known Dio's voice already from Elf which was Dio's pre-Rainbow band, but that he didn't know Ronnie James personally before. Kerry handpicked Dio for these songs and he was pleased that he agreed to sing on the album.

The most surprising was Ronnie James Dio, at the time the vocalist for Black Sabbath. Talk about two worlds colliding! The two songs Dio appears on are hands down the best two tracks on the album.
