Tōru Uchida known by his nickname of Tōru, is a supporting character featured in Danganronpa Kirigiri. Tōru is a member of the Myst'ry Research Society that attends Ōu Daitōitsu University and participates in the Kareobana Academy Case Duel Noir.

    Prior Life

After enrolling in Ōu Daitōitsu University, second-year student, Tōru joined a mystery club dedicated to the genre that was run by Gorō Anbō (Columbo). The other members were: Kōsuke Kanzashīchi (Kōsuke), Erī Wan (Ellery), and Rei Naruko (Gray). However, during this time, they would get into a feud with the Black Magic Club, since the room the mystery club uses for their club meetings was previously the Black Magic's room. Tōru's also had a sister who died after getting into a fatal car accident. Sometime afterwards, Tōru would be approached by the Victims Catharsis Committee who revealed that it was Gray, who was a Black Magic Club spy, who had cut the brakes of his sister's vehicle and thus caused her to get into such an accident. Not wanting the rest of his friends to get harmed, Tōru agreed to take apart in a Duel Noir.

    Kareobana Academy Case

On January 11th, Tōru presented a warning letter to the society to come down to the Kareobana Academy and was addressed by the Black Magic Club. If they failed to appear something bad was happened, so they left to the mountains for it thanks to a taxi funded by Ellery. There, they found the body of Gray in the gymnasium and proceed to blow out the candles around her body in fear of the gym catching fire and set up base in the one classroom with a working stove. They tried to go back down, but found the landslide blocking their way out. When they came back, they met Salvador Fukuro Yadorigi and come to realize he is a detective once he shows them his DSC card. This makes Columbo freak out and orders the rest of his club to not touch Salvador, while also ordering his one hand to keep still. However, the society believes that the culprit has to be Saki Fushie. Saki is the leader of the Black Magic Club and has only let the women join ever since getting elected. Under her leadership, they claim that the Black Magic club casts curses on people and hold secret meetings, but are still around since no one can prove any wrongdoing. Salvador, however, dismisses the possibility and believes the culprit is just using the society's enemies as scapegoats. Thus, leading to the possibility of one of the society members being the culprit. The club members look at each other warily, but dismiss it under the basis that they all came together for the four hour trip to the academy. Gray was determined to have died about four hours before their arrival since Kōsuke and Ellery were both medical students. Thus, Salvador holds back on judgement of them. The group heads back to the gymnasium to investigate, with Tōru noting the wax on the floor. Once their investigation is complete, Salvador makes to leave, but is asked to reveal what he knows about the crime, to which Salvador jokingly asks if they really want to know. Back in the classroom with the stove, they discover that their heat source has run out. The society panics, but Salvador assures them by saying his boy scout knowledge has given him the knowledge on how to light a fire and orders them to round up the rest of the candles. As they go back to the gym to round up the candles, Salvador explains the trick of the case involved using a sharpened candle that would fly over the drugged Gray until the special wick for it would burn up and plunge the candle into the body of Gray, killing her. He says that this trick was done to likely give the culprit and alibi, which causes suspicions to arise, but the society do vouch again for the integrity of each other. As the group heads back to the classroom, they hear a helicopter outside, which is piloted by Licorne. The group accepts the ride from Licorne who flies off, but notes that everyone but Tōru would be allowed to leave. That's because Tōru is the culprit, who admits his motive to his friends. This causes the rest of the society to be frustrated with him for being tempted by strangers and not coming to them for help. During the helicopter ride, all four would eventually fall asleep. As they slept, Licorne asked Salvador to reach into Tōru's pocket and get his ID card. Once he did, and saw his birth date was May 5th, it clicked to Salvador that the culprits were those who zodiacs aligned with the case. When the helicopter stopped, Salvador and Tōru's friends left the helicopter to the Libra Girls Academy Case, whilst Tōru stayed to be taken to the authorities.

Tōru is a male that wears a plaid shirt and striped sweater. Salvador noted that he was rather normal looking, to the point there would probably be several other people on campus who would look like Tōru.

Like with most of his club, Tōru really likes mystery fiction and is enough of a fan to acknowledge Salvador as being a true detective. Tōru held his deceased sister and friends in high regards, to the point he would murder Gray out of worry if it meant to keep his other friends safe. That said, after pulling off his trick, a guilt-ridden Tōru want...
