Born on July 29, 1982 in San Diego, California, Kensi was the only child of both Marine Donald Blye and civilian Julia Feldman, with Donald being stationed in numerous bases during Kensi's childhood such as Camp Pendleton and Camp Lejeune. Donald later taught young Kensi how to track, shoot, fix an engine, play poker, and wire a house with Kensi regarding him as her best friend. As an NCIS Special Agent, Kensi is trained in the use of firearms and can fire a shot capable of either killing or wounding her target. In addition to using a gun, Kensi is the team's sharpshooter, manning a sniper rifle to provide cover for her colleagues who are in the field with Kensi also able to shoot a target who might be endangering the lives of her teammates.
