Fu, tra l'altro, protagonista di numerosi film commedia degli anni sessanta-settanta e fu il regista e conduttore della serie televisiva e programma televisivo Dem Täter auf der Spur (1967-1973). Fu inoltre il fondatore del cabaret Die Schaubude a Monaco.
Ab Mitte der 1980er-Jahre war er auf Grund eines schweren Augenleidens nur mehr in kleineren Gastauftritten zu sehen. Kurz vor seinem Tod spielte er den Archivar in Michael Verhoevens Spielfilm Das schreckliche Mädchen, dessen Uraufführung 1990 Schündler jedoch nicht mehr erlebte.
Rudolf Ernst Paul Schündler (17 April 1906, in Leipzig – 12 December 1988, in Munich) was a German actor and director. He played "Karl" in The Exorcist (1973). After finishing the film The Nasty Girl , Schündler died of a heart attack in Germany, aged 82.
