Rebellion is a worthy attempt to place the Easter Rising of 1916 and the later rebellions involving the key figures of Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera in a historical context. The arrogance of the British and the keen nationalism of the Irish is depicted with great vigour.
Rebellion is the first feature-length documentary to tell the behind-the-scenes story of Extinction Rebellion, whose peaceful demonstrations in 2019 bring London to a standstill and become the largest act of civil disobedience since the Suffragettes.
The rebels and the confused population start to feel the wrath and military might of the British Empire. The tightening of the British Army's 'ring of steel' around the Rebels leads to increasing loss of life and destruction of property on all sides.
