Thomas George Baring, 1st Earl of Northbrook, GCSI, PC, FRS (22 January 1826 – 15 November 1904) was a British Liberal statesman. Gladstone appointed him Governor-General of India 1872–1876. His major accomplishments came as an energetic reformer who was dedicated to upgrading the quality of government in the British Raj .

Thomas George Baring, 1st earl of Northbrook was a British statesman who served as viceroy of India. The son of Sir Francis Baring, Baring studied at Christ Church, Oxford. He was private secretary to several British officials and became a Liberal member of Parliament for Falmouth and Penryn.

Francis Thomas Baring, 6th Baron Northbrook FRGS (born 21 February 1954), is a British peer and Conservative politician. The son of Francis Baring, 5th Baron Northbrook, and Rowena Margaret Manning, Northbrook was educated at Winchester College, and took a BA in history at the University of Bristol.

Thomas Baring, MP (1799–1873) dies with no issue and wills his property (including his art collection) to his nephew Thomas George, later the First Earl of Northbrook (1826–1904). Much of his share of the capital in Barings went to another newphew, Thomas Charles Baring, who worked for the bank.
