Weitra (German pronunciation: [ˈvaɪ̯tʁa] ⓘ; Czech: Vitoraz) is a small town in the district of Gmünd in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
Weitra (in ceco Vitoraz) è un comune austriaco di 2 709 abitanti nel distretto di Gmünd, in Bassa Austria; ha lo status di città (Stadtgemeinde). Nel 1967 ha inglobato i comuni soppressi di Brühl e Wetzles, nel 1971 quelli di Großwolfgers, Reinprechts, Spital e Sankt Wolfgang.

The city of Weitra originated in the early 13th century under Hadmar II of Kuenring and thus is approx. 800 years old. Hadmar came here from Altweitra – a settlement in 2 km distance founded in the mid-12th century, and mentioned in the period of 182-1190 1 as a toll station.
