Arto Halonen (born 11 January 1964, Joensuu) is a documentary filmmaker from Finland. He was also a teacher of cinematography in Joensuu between 1986-1989. In 2008, China did not give a visa to Arto Halonen to participate 2008 Summer Olympics. Halonen was an official guest selected by the Finnish Olympic Committee.

Halonen on DocPoint-dokumenttielokuvafestivaalin perustaja ja oli sen taiteellinen johtaja vuosina 2001–2004. Arto Halosella on oma tuotantoyhtiö, Art Films production AFP Oy. Murderous Trance (also titled The Guardian Angel) is a psychological thriller film written and directed by Arto Halonen and starring Pilou Asbæk, Josh Lucas, Rade Šerbedžija, Cyron Melville and Sara Soulié. It is based on a true story about the astonishing hypnosis murders that took place in Denmark in the 1950s.
Presidential elections were held in Finland on 15 and 29 January 2006 which resulted in the re-election of Tarja Halonen as President of Finland for a second six-year term. The first round of voting in Finnish presidential elections always takes place on the third Sunday of January, in this case 15 January 2006.
