Storia. Il festival venne fondato dalla Utah Film Commission nel 1978 con il nome di Utah/United States Film Festival, con lo scopo di attrarre sceneggiatori, registi e produttori indipendenti. All'origine si svolgeva nei mesi di settembre a Salt Lake City; nel 1981 fu spostato a Park City, una non lontana località sciistica. [1]

History. 1978: Utah/US Film Festival. Sundance began in Salt Lake City in August 1978 as the Utah/US Film Festival in an effort to attract more filmmakers to Utah. [4] . It was founded by Sterling Van Wagenen, [5] head of Robert Redford 's company Wildwood Enterprises, Inc, John Earle and Cirina Hampton-Catania [6] of the Utah Film Commission. [7]
