The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome ("The Dome"), a covered, multi-purpose stadium built in downtown Minneapolis, served this purpose for thirty-one years. In 1973, a Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce Stadium Task Force studied options for a new facility.
