2 mag 2024 · Manuel Zelaya (born September 20, 1952, Catacamas, Honduras) is a Honduran politician who served as president of Honduras (2006–09). In 2009, after having proposed constitutional changes that would have allowed presidents to serve two consecutive terms, he was deposed by the national military in a coup backed by the National Congress.
The crisis culminated in the removal and exile of Honduran president Manuel Zelaya by the Honduran military in a coup d’état . On the morning of 28 June 2009, approximately 100 soldiers stormed the president's residence in Tegucigalpa and put him on an airplane to San José, Costa Rica.
