Doo-wop is a genre of music that was developed in African-American communities in The USA. It started in the 1940s. Doo-wop achieved mainstream popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s. Built upon vocal harmony, doo-wop was one of the most mainstream, pop-oriented R&B styles of the time.

15 mag 2013 · Il doo-wop ha rappresentato un genere fiorente per almeno un decennio e a partire dal 1956 è diventato un repertorio di grande fascinazione per i bianchi e, tra questi, soprattutto per gli italiani della east coast americana aprendo un capitolo della storia musicale degli Stati Uniti conosciuto come “Italo Doo-Wop” o “Italo-American Rock”.
Il doo-wop è uno stile di musica vocale derivato dal rhythm and blues e dal rock and roll, affermatosi negli Stati Uniti verso la seconda metà degli anni cinquanta. Il doo-wop consiste nel rinforzare il canto solista con armonie vocali sincopate e cori utilizzati più come imitazione degli strumenti d'accompagnamento che come voci vere e proprie.
