Dublin (/ ˈ d ʌ b l ɪ n / ⓘ; Irish: Baile Átha Cliath, pronounced [ˈbˠalʲə aːhə ˈclʲiə] or [ˌbʲlʲaː ˈclʲiə]) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. In 2011, there were over 1.1 million people living in the Greater Dublin Area. Dublin was built by the Vikings upon the river Liffey.
