Brooke Foss Westcott (12 January 1825 – 27 July 1901) was an English bishop, biblical scholar and theologian, serving as Bishop of Durham from 1890 until his death. He is perhaps most known for co-editing The New Testament in the Original Greek in 1881.

Brooke Foss Westcott (* 12. Januar 1825 in Birmingham; † 27. Juli 1901 in Auckland Castle, Durham) war ein englischer Theologe und ab 1890 anglikanischer Bischof von Durham. Heute noch bekannt ist er durch seine Mitwirkung an einer textkritischen Ausgabe des griechischen neuen Testaments.
The New Testament in the Original Greek is a Greek-language version of the New Testament published in 1881. It is also known as the Westcott and Hort text, after its editors Brooke Foss Westcott (1825–1901) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828–1892). Textual scholars use the abbreviations " WH " [1] or " WHNU ". [2]

Westcott House began its life in 1881 as the Cambridge Clergy Training School. Brooke Foss Westcott, the then Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, was its first president. He later became the Bishop of Durham.
