Carl Nilsson Linnaeus, noto anche come Linneo (da Carolus Linnaeus, forma latinizzata del nome) o Carl von Linné, nasce il 23 maggio 1707 a Rashult, nella provincia di Smaland (contea di Kronoberg, nel sud della Svezia), in una fattoria, figlio di Christina Broderson e di Nils Ingemarson, un contadino.
