Karl Heinz Schäfer (17 March 1932 – 12 October 1996) was a German-born composer and arranger who worked mainly in France. Life and career. Born in Frankfurt to Jewish parents, he moved with his mother during World War II to the United States, where he learned piano and flute.

Biography. Karl Heinz Schäfer, a flatwater canoeist, came sixth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics with Meinrad Miltenberger in the K2 over 10,000 metres. He won the first of three German titles in the K2 over 1,000 metres in 1947 and in 1951 captured the K1 1,000 metres title, having finished third in 1948 and second in 1950.

20 apr 2024 · Biography. Karl Heinz Schäfer, a flatwater canoeist, came sixth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics with Meinrad Miltenberger in the K2 over 10,000 metres. He won the first of three German titles in the K2 over 1,000 metres in 1947 and in 1951 captured the K1 1,000 metres title, having finished third in 1948 and second in 1950.
During World War II, 457 servicemen of the Waffen-SS, including volunteers and conscripts from Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Hungary, Latvia, Netherlands and Norway, received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Of these, 411 presentations were formally made and evidence of the award is available in the German Federal Archives.
