After you breathe in very small quantities of it for some minutes, you start to taste it. You could also use a HEPA box in the room you're conducting the test to filter it out of the air.
21 mag 2024 · Use saccharine instead. This is why the OSHA fit test procedure starts by testing sensitivity - some people just can't taste Bitrex! (Saccharine was the original qualitative test solution, Bitrex was originally the alternative for people who can't taste saccharine.)

The fit test solution is prepared by adding 337.5 mg of Bitrex to 200 ml of a 5% salt (NaCl) solution in warm water. 83000÷337.5 = 245.93

Therefore, you should add a small amount of sodium hydroxide and water (to dissolve the sodium hydroxide) to the solution and wait an hour for the denatonium to be broken down. Afterwards, cool the mixture to 0°C or less.
3 giu 2024 · Long story short, I'm pretty sure I'm less sensitive to Bitrex than before due to covid. I'd like to make my own Bitrex solution (I'd make it way stronger than the 3M one). I found denatonium benzoate on Ebay for cheap, but on other websites it's crazy expensive.
if you drop a thimble-full of Bitrex "the most bitter substance in the world" into an Olympic swimming pool, and you can detect the bitterness in those two and a half million litres of water. He hasn't randomly added a quote. It's there for a reason. Also if you want to pick on his grammar, there's mistakes you've made too.

20 lug 2023 · For question #1, you can dilute your own sensitivity solution from the fit test solution. I think it’s 12.5 part fit test solution : 1 part (distilled or purified) water. Not quite as precise as buying a separate sensitivity solution but better than nothing. You only need to do this part once to determine your own personal taste threshold.
